T2 V1-R 3,082 "Reissue" Orders - officially exchanged orders of suspension type (type 1) for screwback type (type 2), after the new regulations for wearing Soviet awards went into affect on July 19, 1943. Such exchanges took place at different times, hence, the orders issued in replacement could be of any type ("starback", "flatback", and so on). Considering the sporadic nature of their emergence, we view reissued orders as a single separate variation "R" ("Reissue"), but with sub-variation, reflecting orders' base variation. In other words, order, described as "V6-R" would be a reissue, made from "flatback" base variation.

With 'Дубликат' Engraved “Дубликат” and serial number T2 HDa 28,678 ©GL "Duplicate" Orders - orders, issued in exchange for lost or stolen awards. Such exchanges took place at different times, hence, the order issues in replacement, could be of any type ("starback", "flatback", and so on). Considering the sporadic nature of their emergence, we view duplicate orders as a single separate variation "D" ("Duplicate"), but with sub-variation, reflecting differences, specific to duplicate orders (like style of writing serial number, duplicate sign 'Д' and so on). In other words, order, described as "MHD" would be a duplicate, which is missing a 'Д' ("M"=MISSING), and serial number is hand-engraved ("H"=HAND_ENGRAVED).

ORDERS WITH MISSING MINTMARK:

Base Variation Mintmark Serial Number Pics
'Concave'  no mintmark T2 V4-M 119,788 Absence of a mintmark on orders of variations V1.4.x, V2.1, V2.2, V2.3 and V5.1 was mandatory, however, for other orders, missing mintmark would indicate a mint oversight, or so-called technological error. To such orders, their actual variations are irrelevant, as they could be observed in any variation. They should really be viewed as a single separate variation "M" (MISSING), but with sub-variations, just to reflect orders' base variation, and possibly "H", if the order was manually corrected (HAND-ENGRAVED).

(!) Majority of such orders (with missing mintmark) is observed in LMD issues V4.2 and V4.3. Also, and probably not coincidently, orders with hand-engraved mintmark are mostly found in the same ranges, as well, since they're essentially the same orders, as the ones with missing mintmark, but "caught-and-corrected".

T2 V1-S 177,376 ©MI "Spare" type orders are those orders, which were made from the unnumbered orders of previous issues, or reusing earlier manufactured orders with minor factory defects (such as enamel defects, soldering defects, etc.), that were later corrected. However:
- "spare" orders are always isolated, single-specimen event,
- "spare" only appears within runs of the same mint,
- "spare" comes up after several issues.
At the same time, if something resembling "spare" comes up in neighboring consecutive runs of the same mint, it would most probably be a "diffusion", which wasn't considered in V.Durov's articles, since it's absolutely obvious that beginning of a new run doesn't have to correspond with using a brand new minting stamps.

(!) Actual variations that "spare" orders are made from are irrelevant, as they could be observed in any variation. They should really be viewed as a single separate variation "S", but with sub-variations, just to reflect orders' base variation.
